Berhampur: A team of 11 scientists from the Space Application Center (SAC) in Ahmedabad, a flagship center of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), participated in the Vikram Sarabhai Space Exhibition held at Berhampur ITI, a report said on Friday. The exhibition, where various models related to space research were on display, was inaugurated by Gitanjali Das, Vice-Chancellor of Berhampur University. The team comprising scientists Anup Das, Chakrapani Patnaik, Akshay Sahu, NJ Bhat, Paresh Sarnia, four technicians and others visited the ITI and witnessed models of remote sensing, talking to scientists with communication satellites, Chandrayaan models on mobile buses, orbiters on the moon. Students of Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Berhampur and over 15,000 students from various schools, ITIs and various polytechnics of Ganjam district also participated in the event and witnessed the models displayed at the space exhibition. Visiting scientists admire the sculpture at the ITI premises built from scrap. When contacted, ITI Principal Rajat Kumar Panigrahi said that the visit of scientists will encourage the students to do better and plans are underway to give placements to over 40 students of Berhampur ITI at ISRO in the coming days.
