Jointly developed Indo-Bhutan satellite ground station inaugurated in Bhutan’s capital city of Thimphu.
It is a ground-based facility that helps communicate and receive information transmitted by satellites. The ground station, whose main component is the parabolic antenna, communicates with the satellite by transmitting and receiving radio waves.
Shri Somanath S, Chairman ISRO/Secretary DOS along with Lionpo Thandi Darjee, Minister of External Affairs, Lionpo Karma Donen Wangdi, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Employment, Royal Government of Bhutan and Indian Ambassador to Bhutan Shri Sudhakar Delala inaugurated it.
Director of ISRO’s National Remote Sensing Centre, and senior ISRO scientists involved in India-Bhutan SAT realization, ground station deployment and training were also present.
