Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) invites applications for a free online course Advances in Remote Sensing Techniques for Geological Applications. The course will be conducted by Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) under ISRO.
This course will cover an overview of remote sensing technology and its applications to geologic problems — including the role of optical, thermal, microwave, and hyperspectral RS in the geosciences, among other topics.
The course is suitable for post graduate or final year post graduate students of geosciences, scientific staff of central or state government and teachers or researchers of universities and institutes. Users receiving programs under CEC-UGC or CIET network can also participate.

- The course is free.
- It can be completed within 10 days.
- Course study materials — such as lecture slides, video-recorded lectures and important links and handouts to exhibits — will be made available through e-class.
- A limited number of seats are available. Registration will be done on first come first serve basis.
- A certificate will be awarded to those who have 70 percent attendance in the course and a minimum score of 40 percent in the online test.

How to apply
- Application form should be submitted online.
- To participate in this programme, interested institutes, universities, departments and institutes need to identify a coordinator at their end.
- The identified coordinator has to register his institute as a nodal center on the IIRS website. Links for these can be found here.
- The course can then be taken by registered participants through IIRS-ISRO’s E-Class platform.
