Thimphu (Bhutan), March 15 (ANI): Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Chairman S Somnath, Bhutan Foreign Minister Leonpo Thandi Darjee, Bhutan Information and Communications Minister Leonpo Karma Donen Wangdi and Indian Ambassador to Bhutan Sudhakar Dalela inaugurated a ground India in Thimphu. -Earth Station for Bhutan Satellite, reports Bhutan Live.
The Indian Embassy in Bhutan tweeted, “Shri S Somanath, Chairman @ISRO along with Foreign Ministers Leonpo Thandi Darjee @FMBhutan, Leonpo Karma Donen Wangdi and Amb @Sudhakar Dalela today inaugurated the Ground-Earth Station for India-Bhutan satellite at Thimphu.”
The Indian Embassy in Bhutan noted that the ground-earth station is a testament to the vision of Bhutan’s King and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to further India-Bhutan partnership. The ground-earth station will benefit the people of Bhutan as data from Bhutansat will be used to assess inland water quality, forest and biomass cover, snow and glacier cover, and the geology and hydrology of Bhutan.
The Indian Embassy in Bhutan wrote, “Data from the India Bhutan satellite, launched last year, will be used to measure inland water quality, forest and biomass cover, snow and glacier cover, geology and hydrology of Bhutan, to benefit the people of Bhutan.”
It added, “The ground-earth station is a testament to the vision of His Majesty the King and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to take the India-Bhutan partnership into important new and emerging areas of the 21st century.”
A delegation of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) led by Chairman S Somanath on Monday met with Bhutanese dignitaries, including Minister for External Affairs and Foreign Trade Dr Thandi Darjee, and discussed ways to strengthen India-Bhutan space cooperation. will further strengthen technical ties, reports The Bhutan Live.
Representatives of ISRO and Bhutan reviewed the experiences and milestones achieved including India-Bhutan joint satellite launch in 2022, according to news reports.
The Indian Embassy in Bhutan wrote in a tweet, “Wide-ranging discussions on expanding space technology cooperation through capacity building and focus on application of space information and technology across sectors for the benefit of the people.
