ISRO is offering a 2-week offline course on Remote Sensing for professionals and researchers through its center at Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Dehradun. IIRS is a training and educational institute setup for developing trained professionals in the field of remote sensing, geoinformatics and GPS technologies for natural resources, environment and disaster management. The course titled “Emerging Trends in Remote Sensing and Its Applications” will be conducted from 17 to 28 April 2023.
The aim of this course is to introduce the participants to the present and future possibilities that remote sensing technology holds and to make them aware of the emerging trends in remote sensing and its applications. Attendees will be given an overview of hyperspectral, SAR, LiDAR and UAV and will also be introduced to practical applications of using this data. IIRS faculty will deliver the course through lectures, case studies, demonstrations and exercises.
What will the ISRO course cover in Remote Sensing?
Course participants will experience a mix of theory, hands-on exercises and field exercises. Some of the topics that will be covered are as follows:
- Hyperspectral Remote Sensing and Data Processing.
- SAR, INSAR, POLSAR Remote Sensing and Data Processing.
- LiDAR Remote Sensing and Data Processing.
- UAV Remote Sensing and Data Processing
Who can take ISRO Course on Remote Sensing?
According to the official course brochure, the program can be taken by the following participants working in remote sensing and satellite image processing and related fields with a minimum of 2 years of work experience:
- Professionals.
- Faculty.
- Scientists and researchers are Junior Research Fellows, Senior Research Fellows and Research Associates.
Important Details of ISRO Courses
Participants should note that the course costs Rs 12,000, which includes registration, field work and other course related charges. However, those who want to stay in IIRS hostel will have to pay an additional Rs.5000. Those who want to apply must submit the application before 12 March 2023 on the official website. If a large number of applications are received, IIRS will determine the criteria for admission of candidates.
