Hyderabad: The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) research cylinder that was launched into space crashed in a paddy field in Nagarkurnool on Sunday.
Panic spread among the residents of the area after the 800 kg plastic balloon machine hit the village field in Tarnikal village of Kalwakurti mandal.
The research instrument was reportedly sent into space by ISRO and the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) on Friday to collect weather data.
After the accident, villagers alerted the local police, who spoke to ISRO officials.
Tata Institute Research officials took charge after reaching the spot on Sunday evening and started investigating the accident.
